Rose Dukas is an artist, sculptor, and designer whose work spans decades and mediums. Trained at Massachusetts College of Art and Design (MassArt) in Boston, where she earned her BFA in Sculpture, her path has been woven through fine art, fashion, and interior design — each chapter informing the next.
Her time in Boston deepened into something more than a degree. She volunteered and catalogued at the Museum of Fine Arts, immersing herself in the art world from the inside out. It was also here that she had the rare opportunity to study with Dale Chihuly, before he transitioned from clay into his celebrated glass-blowing work.
Rose later moved to New York, earning an associate degree in Fashion and Women's Eveningwear from FIT, and went on to illustrate for Women's Wear Daily. Her early sculptural work earned her a show at the storied OK Harris Gallery in SoHo, a meaningful debut in New York's contemporary art world.
While raising her two children in New York, Rose channeled her sculptor's eye and fashion sensibility into a new venture — founding her own studio and home design company, creating bespoke slipcovers and drapery that brought an artist's hand to interior spaces. Over the next 25 years, she grew a devoted following, working across residential and commercial spaces throughout the New York tri-state area, with a clientele that included some of the region's most discerning homes and public spaces. That loyal following eventually carried her south to Palm Beach, Florida, where she continues to work.
Now, Rose is beginning again. Returning to a clay studio after many years away, she has found in the medium something that had always eluded her — a way to truly paint. Her work as a designer and her life with interiors never left her; it's present in every piece she makes. It is work that could only come from someone who has spent a lifetime looking, at spaces, surfaces, and the way beauty inhabits a room.
